First impressions are that this rest is super light weight. Without glancing at the instruction "typical male" I had the rest together in seconds. It is very sturdy and can easily be broken down and stored inside your range bag. The design also allows for use of 30 round mags unlike some shooting rests and bags. The rubber pads that came with the rest didnt stay on the legs well was the only initial problem. Im not sure you would use them anyway unless you do alot of shooting from a table." After speaking with the manufacture the rubber feet were added at a customers request for shooting off a car hood or other delicate surfaces. They were not designed for constant use...makes sense"
Video below demonstrates how quickly it goes together. This Rest a must have for the tactical shooter. Ive used it now for a couple of weeks on alot of different weapon system and for sure it does its job as a rest. But, the thing that makes this rest revoluntionay is the weight and storage of this unit. For the average operator you dont need a bipod on your ar/m4 rifle. but there are time when you have to make that shot through a hole or at a small piece of availible flesh. Thats where the Montie rest comes into action. Im not saying every soldier/operator needs one but it would definately be nice to have one on the team. The AR REST from Montie Designs has a new home in my rifle bag. This product is definately a GO. Im sure the AR REST will be making a appearance at a range near you.
